HELLO, I'm Tamara
I am a trained Graphic Designer, with a background in marketing, and most recently trained in UX design. Understanding the space between humans and the digital world is my passion. Designing beautiful products, and human-centered experiences that improve that space, is what I love about UX Design. Thanks for stopping by!

Georgia HOPE
Feature within a Digital Product
Role: UX/ UI Designer
Georgia HOPE is a community based provider of mental health, substance use, and family preservation services in the State of Georgia.

Client Goals
-
Limit the number of their clients using traditional medical emergency services in a mental health crisis, by developing a centralized crisis response feature within their website for their established clientele.
-
Connect clients to an on-call crisis management staff member(s) trained to diffuse the crisis, or identify if emergency services need to be involved, thereby limiting the number of unnecessary ER and in-patient hospital visits.
The primary challenge with this project is access to actual users. Due to HIPAA compliance regulations, I was unable to obtain initial user feedback to help direct the design process. However, throughout this project I had direct access to the leadership team, as well as actual therapists, who provided valuable insight.

The result is a responsive direct messaging feature, whereby a user can connect immediately with a licensed therapist that will immediately engage and begin to diffuse the crisis. The user can choose to connect at any time with the therapist via VOIP to initiate a phone call, video conference or simply direct message. This feature is a unique asset that Georgia HOPE can add to their arsenal as they serve on the front lines of this nations mental health crisis.

Role: UX/ UI Designer, Corporate Branding
SW The Salon is a luxury salon based in the affluent Buckhead neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia.

Client Goals
-
Update existing site to expedite users access to the most critical information.
-
Develop a positive, efficient, online booking process that will benefit users, owners and staff.
The result is a fresh, modern interpretation focused on guiding the user efficiently to the information they require, including an online booking feature that is not only beneficial to clients, but also allows the staff to focus more on doing hair and less on the time consuming booking process.
Bhuku
End-to-end App
Role: UX/ UI Designer, Corporate Branding
Bhuku is a new app for book lovers to be able to track the books they own, what they are reading, and what they want to read next. Based on research conducted, I designed a user-friendly, fresh app for Bhuku that users can easily navigate, find to be a valuable tool in organizing their reading material, and and one they can enjoy using to connect with friends, and family.

The primary challenge with this project was determining and overcoming the fact that there are several competitors in this market, the largest being Amazon's Goodreads.com. Bhuku is different than other book inventory apps in that it utilizes mobile device tools like the camera and OCR to be able to scan users books and commit that data to the users library, making the cataloging process much more efficient.

Zeit is an online travel agency selling time travel vacation packages to 289 destinations from the prehistoric to the modern age. Not only is Zeit a new brand but it is selling a new product product. Once we determined there was in fact a market for such a product, Zeit tasked us with designing a user friendly online booking website that provided enough information for the user to feel confident booking, all while reflecting the historic appeal of the fascinating destinations available.
